ABOUT US....

Crafts and Gifts at Harlequin morayshire

Harlequin Arts & Crafts is a 'family cooperative' run  by Derrick and Frances Green. It is a small business creating a variety of 'one off' crafts, using both new and re-cycled materials.

We work from our home in Buckie, on the Moray Firth in Scotland, and Arbroath where our felt and jewellery maker lives..and the main focus of our creative work is to re-use and re-cycle usable materials and make them into usable and lovely things!

Much of the wool that we use is reclaimed and refinished before being used.

We also use wool directly from the fleece as Frances has spent many years spinning and teaching others to spin natural yarns.

The beautiful bags that we make use a high percentage of re-claimed materials...often with unusual additions (even recently men's ties!) and our knitted/crochet bags are a riot of colour...and have a definite 'hippy' look!

We work from a tiny workshop at the bottom of the garden...or the house when it is cold...or the veranda on a fine day...Our home may not be the tidiest in the world but it is very productive!

During spring 2010 we have made the decision to finally invest in a van, so that we can attend some larger events in our area such as local Highland Games. For the past few years we have been cramming all our wares in to our car (with the seats removed!) but now we have such a variety of goods that we really need something with a little more space...This gives us the option to create larger goods as it has been our ambition for some time to create rugs using re-cycled materials! watch this space during 2010!!!
