HAND SPUN WOOL from Harlequin

From time to time we also sell hand spun wool in hanks, and made into hats, gloves and scarves. The wool is mostly spun directly from raw fleece and is then lightly scoured and washed so as to retain all of the natural oils.

Garments made from this wool is incredibly warm and almost waterproof! (you dont often see a cold sheep!)

We hope to soon expand on this part of our business by demonstrating spinning with a spinning wheel at some of the events that we attend during the year...such as Speyfest, Belmont St Country Fair in Aberdeen and Huntly Farmers Market.

Hand-spun wool is unique! unlike commercially produced wool it is sometimes a little uneven, and the colours can be quite random, but it has a natural charm of its own.

Jacobs fleece is spun and plied randomly and this produces a 'tweedy' effect.

Individual and beautiful!
