OTHER EVENTS that we shall be
attending.
Speyfest craft fair 2009.
Fochabers Moray. Saturday
August 1st.
Speyfest is a music festival of the best in traditional and contemporary celtic
music. The festival, in it's 14th year, takes place over 4 days in the small town of
Fochabers in the North East of Scotland.
On the Saturday we hold a craft fair in the huge
Marquee, This is a major fair in the Moray area and attracts many craft-workers
selling and demonstrating gifts and crafts. Last year over 50 Craft workers
attended and this year looks to be even bigger!
This is an important social event in our area and is
contributed to by local hotels and businesses. to read more go to
speyfest.com
Fair is open from 10am to 4pm
Entrance is free.
We attended this venue as we usually do, and it
was well set out and well organised on the day as usual. (thank you Liz!)
We found a steady flow of people came
through...but not as many as last year...our takings were down slightly, and
many people that I spoke to at the end of the day had had a very poor day
indeed! Some describing it as a 'disaster' for them.
This I suspect is due to the economic climate
more than anything else...
However...there is one large problem with this
event...it seems to get shorter and shorter....from the two day event that it
started as many years ago, we are now down to one day, and that itself gets
shorter as we are rushed (and I mean rushed!) out of the way at 4pm to make way
for the music...Indeed if it gets much shorter we will hardly be set up before
it is time to 'take down' again! I suspect that the organisers may have to make
a decision about the craft fairs position at Speyfest for coming years....and if
it is that inconvenient (I noted that it was barely mentioned on the Speyfest
website) perhaps better to cancel it altogether???
